Mechanical Engineering in Ancient Egypt, Part 113: Nets Industry and Applications

Abstract

This paper is the 113th in a series of research papers studying mechanical engineering in ancient Egypt. It examines theproduction of nets and their known applications within ancient Egyptian society during the dynastic era, spanning fromthe Old Kingdom to the Late Period. By compiling evidence supported by relevant references, detailed descriptions, andcurrent artefact locations, this study highlights approximately nine distinct net applications and six specialized net-basedfishing techniques.
